How do I get started?

The first thing you can do is sign up the service. Registering does not obligate you in any way, but allows you to use all features of the service.

As a member of an Akava union, you are entitled to a members’ discount on our Platinum or Gold plans when you authenticate yourself with your union ID or enter a member+ discount code when registering.

Are light entrepreneurs employees?

No. Light entrepreneurship is comparable to self-employment. As a light entrepreneur, you seek out clients and invoice your work yourself, as in self-employment. Clients offer assignments to light entrepreneurs for a fee.

As a light entrepreneur, you can outsource administrative tasks such as invoicing, taxes and other obligations to the Palkkioplus service.

Where can I find clients?

As a light entrepreneur, you are responsible for finding clients and work. It’s a good idea to spread the word as widely as possible in order to get interesting job offers.

We also recommend creating a profile on the palkkioplus.fi website to allow potential clients to find you. You can create a profile after you have signed up for the service.

Partner union members get a discount on the service

The Palkkioplus service has been developed in cooperation with ten Akava member unions. Members of Platinum partner unions can invoice €1,000 yearly through the service without service charges!

Which unions are partner unions?

If you are a member of any of the following unions, you are a member of our Platinum partner union:
Finnish Association of Academic Agronomists, Akava Special Branches, Finnish Pharmacists’ Association, Professionals of Business and Technology, Trade Union of Education in Finland, Association of Finnish Lawyers, Union of Finnish University Professors, Union of Swedish-speaking Engineers in Finland and Social Science Professionals.

Members of other Akava unions may also use the service at Gold service level prices as a memberplus member benefit. Get your discount code from the memberplus.fi service and make use of your member’s benefits.

How do I activate the discounted service package?

Our website automatically detects Platinum and Gold users when you sign in with your union ID. The system automatically detects the correct service level for you based on your union membership.

You can also sign in with your member+ membership service username, or you can create your own username and password for the service by registering. If you are a member of an Akava union, you will receive at least a Gold-level plan after you have been automatically identified.

You can also use the service without a union membership at affordable basic plan rates.

Add your resume to our expert search

You can add a personal resume to our expert search, which is found in the For clients section.

You can manage the contents of your resume in the My information section while signed into the service.

If you have added your phone number in your information, you’ll receive a text message about new job offers.

Tell clients about your expertise

Take advantage of all channels you can think of when putting your name out to potential clients. Social media is still a great tool for marketing.

The most important thing is not to hide your expertise.

Make the most out of your clients

Good references are a tried and tested way of obtaining new clients. Ask for permission to share your work with others, and keep in touch with your old clients regularly.
